The Great Grandmaster Filimon Caburany is founder and original master of the Lapunti Arnis De Abanico System, as well as being taught by his father he was also a long time sparring partner of GM Filimon 'Momoy' Canete. Forming a freindship with GM Johnny Chiuten and sharing knowledge the Lapunti Arnis De Abanico System was finalised in 1972. After his death his son Predencio 'Ondo' Caburnay became the heir and GM of the system. The name Lapunti was devised from the three Barangay's (Villages) that surrounded the original club, that being 'Labangon', 'Punta Princessa' and 'Tisa'.

Known for it's rapid fanning (abanico strikes) with a heavy base in Espada 'Y' Daga Lapunti covers many ranges of the FMA and a wide diversity of weapons combinations as well as the empty hand 'Combat Judo'.
